I sincerely support the students, but they cannot do battle and go head to head with fully trained riot police, they will only get hurt and not much sympathy for their actions. They need to seriously shift tactics and find other ways to put their message across. I note also that they are up against 'The Establishment' on all fronts especially the BBC and SKY, and the British media is tending to side against the student cause. If public opinion wains, then their cause will be lost.
I suggest that they start to use smaller groups, many groups organised in numbers of say 500-600 people, but only 'strictly' peaceful demos.... using a carnival atmosphere using love and peace, music and party tactics like they did in the 60's against the Vietnam War - acts of non-aggression that will woo the general public, distribute leaflets on streets and perhaps have collection tins for the students 'cause', rather than one HUGE weekly demo that ends in a no win punch up. Also, they need to use the power of the internet just like the 4Chan group (Operation Payback) that are now causing havoc against people like Paypal and visa, and others that would take away their liberties and freedoms. If a small group of only up to 9,000 people can hit giant corporations that hard, then think what tens of thousands of students could also achieve. Perhaps for a start the students could use the internet to cause DDOS against Conservative and Lib-Dem web-sites and make them fall over. I'm sure that would make Cameron and Clegg take notice.
