Is it possible to dye a polyester rucksack with PVC coating?
I'm going travelling and have bought myself a rucksack which I really like for the pockets and functionality, but it's design is camouflage, which I don't like because it can be a bit risky having military patterns on your clothing in developing countries.
So my aim is to dye it black.

It says it is made from polyster and has a PVC coating. I assume you can't dye PVC, but if I totally submerge it in a sink full of black dye will it make the polyster turn black, or at least darken the whole thing to an extent?
Failing that.... what does anyone think to me literally spray painting it? Please don't ridicule me as I'm being serious with that suggestion!

Polyester is plastic and will not absorb dyes.
'Painting' will probably be your best option, though I would opt for a permanent marker-type paint (like a Sharpie) instead of just spray paint.
